Robotic Revolution: The Future of Surgery

Surgical robotics have attracted considerable media attention in recent years, and Montreal has become an epicenter for robotics globally, hosting the world’s largest annual robotics conference. [1] The city’s own Jewish General Hospital has the highest number of robot-assisted surgeries in Canada, using the tool for 90% of their operations. [2] Nevertheless, robotics accounts for less than 10% of the total number of general surgical procedures performed annually. [3]

A number of large healthcare corporations are now looking to get into the game. This talk, by Addie Harris, Director of Digital Orthopedic Surgery at DePuy Synthes, focuses on what forces are at play to account for this industry shift, and makes a case for the true value that robotics could provide to the field of surgery.

Join us February 6 to hear from Addie Harris, as well as researchers and companies in this field.
