Developing smart housing for aging in place; at the Résidences Le 1615 & Le 1625 of the Quartier des Générations
Summary
After the age of 75, over 70% of elderlies suffer from disabilities limiting the realization of daily living activities. Despite these disabilities, elderlies have a strong desire to stay in the setting of their choice, generally their home, as long as possible.
Including a close collaboration between academics, non-profits and industry partners, we aim to develop and integrate smart ambient technologies to support seniors living alone, in autonomous and semi-autonomous collective housing.
This project has a great potential to extend elderly’s autonomy and their quality of life, support caregivers and delay institutionalization.
