New signal processing, circuits and materials for robust and affordable capacitively-coupled electrocardiography

Summary

The electrocardiogram (ECG) is one of the best tools available to diagnose heart disease. Unfortunately, it is unsuitable for long-term monitoring. In recent years, a new contactless ECG technology has been proposed, which uses capacitive effects to unobtrusively capture the heart’s electrical signals. This project aims to help our industrial partner develop a commercial capacitive ECG by researching fundamental technological barriers such as sensor scalability, signal precision, manufacturability, and automatic disease recognition.
