Summary


With the unprecedented growth and application of 3D printing technology in the healthcare sector, there is a significant need for easy access to the design and manufacture of medical and non-medical devices. This project aims the strategic implementation of 3D printing at an institutional scale at the Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM).

Le Carrefour d’impression 3D en santé mission is to offer a hospital service specializing in the design and manufacture of affordable medical devices, while being a model that can be transposed to the entire Québec’s health system. This innovative project not only expands the offering of personalized care, particularly in radiation oncology and dentistry, but will also significantly reduce purchasing costs of accessories and replacement parts. In addition, the project will allow processes optimization by introducing novel designs of procedure-specific devices.
