MEDTEQ+ Mobilizes the Healthcare Ecosystem to Test 7 Innovations in Real-world Settings

Montreal, April 27, 2026 — MEDTEQ+ is unveiling the seven collaborative projects selected as part of the first call for proposals under its Validation, Health Innovation and Evaluation Support Program (AVISÉ). Launched in June 2025 to support Quebec companies that have developed medical or digital health technologies nearing commercialization, the AVISÉ program funds real-world studies aimed at demonstrating the overall value of these innovations for future clients, including their economic, population-level, clinical, organizational, sociocultural, and environmental impact.

Financially supported by the Quebec Ministry of Economy, Innovation and Energy and delivered by MEDTEQ+, with the support of the Health Evaluation and Innovation Network (RÉIS) and in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MSSS), the initiative enables companies to better position themselves in the market by obtaining clinical feedback and essential real-world evidence to advance through the stages of commercialization.

The total value of these first seven collaborative projects amounts to nearly $7.4 million, including close to $3.6 million in funding from the Government of Quebec.

Here are the projects selected for this first cohort.

  • Centralization of information from care setting tools into the Sentiom application
Sentiom is a unified digital application designed to streamline the work of staff in facilities serving older adults and other vulnerable populations. This project will first focus on implementing the solution in two settings: Villa Sainte-Rose (a seniors’ residence) and Maison Martin-Matte in Quebec City (a specialized facility for individuals with traumatic brain injuries or physical disabilities). Subsequently, the Health Evaluation and Sustainable Innovation Network (REISD – CIUSSS de la Capitale-Nationale) will conduct an assessment of its acceptability, usability, and effectiveness, followed by an economic analysis. This evaluation will demonstrate that this integrated technological approach can improve working conditions for staff while optimizing resident monitoring.
  • Evaluation of the NurEx medication safety platform
NURA Medical is partnering with the connected health incubator OROT (CIUSSS du Centre-Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal) to validate the clinical, organizational, human, and economic value of NurEx, its medication calculation and preparation support platform, at the Tulattavik Health Centre of Ungava and the Montreal Children’s Hospital. NurEx aims to reduce the risk of errors and the cognitive load on nursing staff, while enhancing patient safety.
  • FemApp
AppGuide, in collaboration with CISSS des Laurentides, aims to demonstrate in real-world settings the overall value of AppGuide – Women’s Health to accelerate access to appropriate frontline services and tools, and to document an implementation protocol ready for broader deployment. The project, evaluated by the RÉIS team at CIUSSS du Nord-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, focuses on priority areas such as contraception and sexual health, perinatal/postpartum care (including mental health), and pelvic disorders, with the goal of improving the efficiency of the patient experience.
  • Air quality for all: an evaluative study of LIFA
Sphaira is partnering with REISD – CIUSSS de la Capitale-Nationale to assess the acceptability, usability, and effectiveness of LIFA, a standalone device designed to improve the microbiological quality of air. The study will be conducted in Petite École ABC daycare centres, CIUSSS de la Capitale-Nationale, and CISSS des Laurentides, and will validate the device’s performance in reducing the transmission of respiratory infections.
  • Deprescribing platform to reduce polypharmacy
OMNI-MED.COM and MedSafer are combining their respective innovations—Omnimed (electronic medical record) and MedSecure (deprescribing software)—to generate lists of patients exposed to the ten priority potentially inappropriate medications (PIMs) and use them as levers to trigger targeted deprescribing care pathways, delivered by the right professional at the right time. The project will be evaluated by the RÉIS team at CIUSSS de l’Estrie – CHUS within family medicine groups (GMF du Lac, GMF Plateau Marquette, GMF Haut Saint-François, GMF St-Léonard-d’Aston, GMF-U La Pommeraie, GMF-U Nord de Lanaudière, and GMF Bedford) and aims to optimize care safety, organizational efficiency, and population-based deprescribing management.
  • TAKECARE – Integrated management of complex chronic diseases in primary care
The TAKECARE digital health platform, developed by Greybox Solutions, aims to improve the follow-up of unattached patients and high users of the healthcare system living with chronic diseases. The project, evaluated by the RÉIS team at CIUSSS du Nord-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, will be deployed in family medicine groups (Azur, MaClinique, GMF du Cap) and at CIUSSS de l’Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal.
  • VT-Platform for patient remote monitoring
VitalTracer has developed VT-Platform, a digital health system designed to support caregivers and make at-home recovery safer and easier for children after hospital discharge through remote pediatric monitoring by clinicians. In collaboration with CHU Sainte-Justine, VT-Platform will undergo an independent evaluation by the RÉIS team at CIUSSS du Nord-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, which will analyze system use by families at home, the relevance of the data for clinical teams, and the integration of the technology into hospital practices.

Here in Québec, we’re joining forces to unlock the power of technology to improve lives in our communities. The collaborative projects selected under the AVISÉ program perfectly illustrate this commitment. Those projects will give us the opportunity to test out new, locally developed technologies, helping our small and medium-sized businesses grow and enabling us to better meet the needs of our healthcare system across our regions.” — Bernard Drainville, Minister of Economy, Innovation and Energy, and Minister Responsible for the Maritime Strategy

“With the AVISÉ program, MEDTEQ+ is giving a strong boost to the adoption of health innovations in Quebec. By supporting seven projects in real-world settings, we are mobilizing RÉIS institutions to generate robust evidence and demonstrate the tangible value of promising solutions. This collaborative approach reduces the risks associated with technology adoption while anchoring solutions in real-world practice for the benefit of patients, healthcare professionals, and the broader ecosystem. It also provides companies with the clinical and operational evidence they need to confidently access markets.”  Annie-Kim Gilbert, President and CEO of MEDTEQ+

The collaborative projects supported by the AVISÉ program will benefit from evaluation reports produced by the RÉIS teams. These reports will serve both as a lever for their integration into Quebec and broader markets, and as a means to increase the visibility of their solutions among decision-makers within the Health and Social Services Network (RSSS), the Quebec private sector, as well as potential buyers and investors.

What is the Health Evaluation and Innovation Network (RÉIS)?

RÉIS is a network of specialized healthcare institutions that collaborate with health technology companies in Quebec (CIUSSS de la Capitale-Nationale – REISD, Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM), CIUSSS du Centre-Sud-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, CIUSSS du Centre-Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal – OROT, CIUSSS du Nord-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, and CIUSSS de l’Estrie – Centre hospitalier universitaire de Sherbrooke). Its mission is to validate the positioning and relevance of technologies, accelerate their development and evaluation, and facilitate their commercialization both in Quebec and beyond.
